Primary science
Science - Year 6 Electricity
A fully resourced 6 lesson unit on electricity in Year 6.
Included is a booklet format that includes all the questions, all the supporting information required and the activities linked to this. As much as possible, images, models and diagrams have been used to make the information as accessible as possible to refer back to following discussions. Each lesson also has key vocabulary and recap questions as well (the first lesson links to our previous unit of Animals including Humans so can be easily adapted).
Each lesson also has a PowerPoint that includes the information and diagrams from the booklet as well as any additional notes etc.
All the resources have been uploaded as PowerPoints so that you can easily adapt them to suit your setting.

Because, But, So - Living Things (Year 6)
20 different writing activities that link to content from the Year 6 unit for Living Things and their Habitats to support the development of using different conjunctions in writing as well as thinking carefully about some of the knowledge and how they can apply the conjunctions appropriately using what they know about the subject area.
There are 20 days worth of activities, with each day having a different link to knowledge from the unit. Each day includes three different slides that follow the I do, we do, you do model.
However, it doesn’t need to be that each day you follow the model and that you may just model and then get pupils to do the you do or leave it up as pupils enter the classroom for them to then have a go at the because, but, so.
The idea is that it is short focused writing, with the full session lasting 15 to 20 minutes if using all three elements and shorter where all three elements aren’t used. Slides can be used as a pick up and go and don’t need to be done in the order set out.
Parts of a Flower Reading Comprehension
A reading comprehension resource that focuses on parts of a flower, providing information about the different parts of a flower and the role they play as well as activities linked to this to check understanding.
The fact file includes a brief introduction before focusing on the different parts of the flower and the role they have. This includes petals, sepal, parts of the stamen and parts of the pistil.
The resource includes:
A fact file about parts of a flower mentioned above (both in colour and black and white for ink saving purposes)
3 different comprehension activities of differing challenge - answers are included for these
A vocabulary activity that requires definitions to be found for each word provided.
Parts of a Plant Reading Comprehension
A reading comprehension resource that focuses on parts of a plant, providing information about the different parts of a plant and the role they play as well as activities linked to this to check understanding.
The fact file includes a brief introduction before focusing on the different parts of the plant and the role they have. This includes roots, the stem, leaves, flowers and fruit.
The resource includes:

Inheritance Worksheets
Five pages of worksheets that can be used when teaching Year 6 Evolution and Inheritance.
The worksheets focus on inherited characteristics with an activity that focuses on sliding scales to decide whether it it inherited or acquired or whether it may fall somewhere inbetween such as hair colour.
There are then questions getting pupils to consider why hair and eye colour can be inherited or acquired.
The final worksheets focus on family trees and looking at what a child has inherited from different people in the family, considering the roles different people in the family may play including grandparents.
All the sheets can also provide rich discussion as a class in considering different elements of inheritance.
Explanation Writing Unit - Digestive System
A complete writing unit for teaching explanation texts through writing one about the digestive system. It has been created with lower KS2 in mind but is easily adaptable.
Each ‘lesson’ is broken into chunks of learning rather than directly being a one hour lesson. This means some of the lessons may take more than an hour and be completed over a sequence of lessons instead, with the focus being on the learning and activities within this rather than ‘rushing’ through in an hour. Altogether, there is approximately two weeks worth of lessons, with slightly longer depending on how long drafting, redrafting and publishing take.

All lesson PowerPoints with notes are included as well as a model text, a summary organiser about the digestive system, activity sheets and a explanation text summary sheet.
Electricity Unit - Year 4
A six lesson unit for electricity that is based on the Year 4 Science curriculum. Included is a work booklet, a support booklet with information, lesson PowerPoints and a knowledge organiser that provides overview of some of the key information.
The 6 lessons are as follows:
Lesson 1: What is electricity and looking at examples of things that use electricity
Lesson 2: Keeping safe with electricity
Lesson 3: Conductors and insulators
Lesson 4: Circuits (this lesson does include a brief look at circuit symbols ahead of Year 6)

The information booklet includes key supporting detail and can be printed into a reusable A5 format that signals the booklet is different to the activity booklet. This is then paired up with the work booklet that involves all the key tasks children will complete as part of their learning. The PowerPoints then bring all this work together as well as providing additional questions and information to discuss.

A lesson aimed at the Year 3 Science unit of Animals including Humans. This lesson is the sixth and final lesson of a sequence, focusing on reviewing the unit/ acting as an assessment of what children can remember and understand.
There are a number of different tasks that link to what has been taught over the unit, including true or false, labelling diagrams, and thinking about different importances of parts of the body. An answer sheet is also included and a presentation of the activity to discuss answers along each stage.
There is a second version of the review task also created for any group working at a slightly lower level with all the same factors and answer sheet included.
Year 3 Animals including Humans - Muscles Lesson
A lesson aimed at the Year 3 Science unit of Animals including Humans. This lesson is the fifth lesson of a sequence, looking at muscles. The lesson presentation includes a recap task looking at prior learning from a previous lesson (can easily be discarded if you are using this as a stand alone lesson) key vocabulary and discussion around why muscles are important to us and how they work.
This is then followed by an independent activity working on applying the learning about muscles and how they work. This is then followed by a challenge question regarding exercise and breathing heavier. An answer sheet and support sheet are also included, with an answer sheet also included for the recap task.

A knowledge organiser that links to the Year 3 unit on plants, including key vocabulary, images and diagrams that link to some of the key information when learning about plants.
Also included are five different quizzes/ tasks that link to the information in the knowledge organiser that could be used on different weeks as a focus task/ revision of the information on the organiser.
These include quiz questions, matching definitions, completing diagrams and filling in blanks. For each quiz/ task, an answer sheet is also included.
